Terms of use

Terms of use

For the Sealkeep apps and sealkeep.eu. Last updated: 25 October 2026.

In short

Use Sealkeep to protect your own files, lawfully. Never use it for illegal content. I can’t open your vaults, so keeping your password and keyfile safe is up to you.

Who these terms are with

Sealkeep is made by Nicholas Xerri, an independent software developer established in Malta ("I", "me"). Contact: support@sealkeep.eu. If you got Sealkeep or Sealkeep Pro from the App Store or Google Play, Apple’s or Google’s own terms for apps also apply. On Windows and Linux, Lemon Squeezy’s checkout terms also apply to your purchase.

Your licence

You may install and use Sealkeep for personal or business use. Sealkeep Pro is a one-time purchase that unlocks more features on the devices its store allows; it is a licence to use the software, not a subscription. You may not resell the app or a licence key, or remove its notices.

No illegal content, ever

You must not use Sealkeep to create, store, hide, copy or share anything that is illegal where you are or in Malta. That includes, above all, child sexual abuse material, which is banned without exception. It also covers material that infringes other people’s rights or that you have no right to hold.

Sealkeep has no sharing feature. It never hosts, publishes or sends your files anywhere. If you share a vault folder with someone, you do that in your own sync service (Dropbox, OneDrive, iCloud Drive and so on), under that service’s terms and rules.

If you break this rule, your licence to use Sealkeep, including Sealkeep Pro, ends immediately. Where the law allows, you are not entitled to a refund.

If you come across child sexual abuse material anywhere, report it to the police or to your national hotline, listed at inhope.org. To report misuse of Sealkeep, email support@sealkeep.eu.

Requests from authorities

I cooperate with lawful requests from police and courts. Sealkeep is built so that I never receive your files, file names, passwords, keyfiles or keys, and there is no back door, master key or recovery. So I can’t open, decrypt or scan a vault for anyone, and I can’t hand over what I don’t have. The only records I hold are the limited purchase and licence records described in the privacy policy, and I disclose them only when the law requires it.

Your responsibilities

  • Passwords and keyfiles: nobody can reset or recover them, me included. If you lose them, the vault can’t be opened.
  • Backups: keep backups of files that matter. A sync service is not a backup: it copies deletions and mistakes too.
  • Your devices: a vault you leave unlocked can be read by anyone with your device until it locks.

Warranty and liability

Sealkeep is pre-release software. Sealkeep has not had an independent security audit, and no software can promise perfect protection. As far as the law allows, Sealkeep is provided as it is, and I am not liable for lost data, lost profits or indirect damage. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law, or takes away your rights as a consumer.

Law and courts

These terms are governed by the law of Malta. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the law where you live and can go to your own courts.
